Baba Yaga’s Skull Hut

Baba Yaga's Skull Hut

One of my all-time favorite illustrators is a Russian fellow who lived in the late 19th and early 20th century named Ivan Bilibin. He has some really cool imagery of Russian folktales, including the mythical hag of the forest, Baba Yaga. This is my version of Baba Yaga’s hut, which is supposed to rest on a pair of chicken legs. I think it also has skulls which keep watch or act as torches or something cool like that.

The whole image was done in Photoshop using a Wacom drawing tablet. The slithering vines in the background were actually inspired by a sensation I once experienced while using salvia divinorum
