Its been a few days since I had any real serious hardcore occult investigations online, so I felt like today was a good time to get back into some reading. Forgive me, cause these thoughts are kind of all over, I’m trying to open doors here, not solidify things, right now.

This is an article on “Occulture” (the secret marriage of art & magic) by Antero Alli, who I like a whole lot. First found out about him from Rob Brezsny’s site. Then I got his book “Angel Tech” which was a sort of follow up to Robert Anton Wilson’s “Prometheus Rising“. Anyway, this article is from the early 90’s, which makes it a little dated, but not really. It’s all about… well, I don’t know, its about a lot of things. Heres a cool quote from it: “the time has come for the chaotic emergence of the species’ own intuitive genius”.

He talks a lot in that article about the lunar 13-month year. Which I never really gave much though, but yeah, its true, there really are thirteen moon cycles in a year, of 28 days and change, each. He also talked about some weird game called “Dreamspell” made by some artist named Jose Arguelles that I want to read more about.

That also reminds me, that theres a really cool essay on “Planetary Forces as Sexual Realities“, which is on Brezsny’s site, but that Alli wrote. Too bad it seems to be only Part 1 of 2. I’ve been unable to locate the concluding section of it.

Well, since I’m on a roll with the Antero Alli stuff, heres another one about “Astrology as an Archetypal Language.” This is more or less what I was trying to explain to Nick a couple weeks ago outside the Stinger in Williamsburg, but felt myself failing to convey the real force of what I meant and knew. Anyway, there is also a magical little line of text in this article that I just found, which may as well have been taken from a letter I wrote to John about a month ago, and was talking to Laura Jane about really really recently: “Archetypal forces are autonomous energies with lives and agendas of their own.” Here is another cool one: “Thoughts, in and of themselves, are autonomous, lighting from mind to mind, held down by the force of concentration.”

WOW ! I love Antero Alli’s writing! Hooray. This all makes me think of James Hillman a good bit too, who I also need to read more of, I realize. This might just be the most concise explanation of astrology I’ve ever seen. Or maybe not. I’m too far into my own little mindset to judge something like that anymore. Another kickass line from this article: “Love is real only when you are aware of it as a living force of affinity, a presence, harmonizing you and the beloved, whatever and whomever that may be.” Also good: “The active force of will (Mars) naturally opposes the passive force of habit (Moon) until the will to act becomes a habit (actors must learn this habit to perform on cue).”

Alright, I have a couple things going on here, so I have to stop for a bit, and get everything together….
