Down by the river
Well, my plan to come into work Saturday and make some extra cash was almost thwarted. See, our internet went down. But ! Then it came back up, and so here I am still, hammering away at whatever it is I really do here, until 5:00pm.
Not accustomed to coming in on Saturdays (see, I have this thing about the weekends being sacred, or something), I came in an hour before the shop actually opened (it opens at 11:00 Saturdays, apparently). So, I decided I would walk the few blocks around the Javitz center, and go hang out down by the Hudson. I actually had quite a wonderful time down there in the breeze and sunlight, watching Canadian geese (a favorite since I was a wee lad) swim about, and little river waves pound against the rocks, and throwing driftwood here and there. Oh, and I listened to Rufus Wainwright, as usual, and everything was good in the world. Well, at least pretty good, it would be a smidge better if I had more money, so that I don’t have to work today, on a Saturday. But oh well. Them’s the breaks.
No one else is up here with me today, which is quite unusual. I have the weak AC on, and the fan going full blast, which, I may have remarked, is so loud and windy that it makes me feel like I’m flying in some kind of old-fashioned crop duster or something. It’s not altogether a bad feeling.
