Beautiful girls for science
I was talking with a few different people today about body-side dominance. Say, when you cross your arms, which arm goes on top, and does it feel weird if you try to reverse them? What about when you cross your hands, which thumb goes on top? Mine is left both times. It feels completely weird if I try to mess with that natural order of things. I also found out recently, that if I don’t put my left shoe on first, it feels really weird. I never realized I had been favoring my left foot like that so much.
Anyway, so then I got to asking other people, Aron, Catherine, Alexey, all of them left side winning the cross arms and hands game. Then me and Alexey were talking about symmetricalness (is that the word?) and he was talking about how its weird that your body wants to look symetrical, when inside, the organs and whatnot are anything but. Interesting point. I think I remember from 9th grade biology that there was some term which described the evolutionary trend towards being symmetrical. I forget what it was.
So then I was trying to look that up online, and came across a bunch of things about beauty and cultural perception, and how symmetrical faces are supposed to be more attractive and crap. There’s some sort of neat experiments I found online. My favorite one has a couple different components. One that lets you make snap judgements about people based on their faces, another that lets you see women in bikinis, and decide which one is more attractive. And then another one that shows you two women’s faces, and you pick which you like better, until it narrows it all down, to your final pick, and then you see the international best-seller. My vote was way different, but they are all pretty hot, so everybody wins.
Now, this is my kind of science! The only thing better than this would be some kind of science experiment where I had to make out with a variety of attractive girls in a “lab setting” (ooh ooh! maybe they would be wearing those white coats and big thick rimmed glasses, and their hair would be all tied up in a bun or something!), and then I would have like some kind of scale that I would have to evaluate them on. Hehe. Science! I love it!
