The rebels not in

There is this song I’m listening to right now that I have loved ever since I heard it, like 4 years ago. It’s by the Halo Benders, and is called “Virginia Reel Around the Fountain”. It fucking rules. It’s one of those songs that makes my armhair stand on end when I hear it still. I really really like the Halo Benders, let me tell you.

I was just talking to Pavan about something that was relevant to what I wrote a few nights back, about dating and projection. About projecting what you want for yourself onto the people that you are attracted to, and all that. And I was just talking about how my life isn’t really at all stressful, or really ultimately that eventful, but how sometimes, it just builds and builds and builds, and is like almost overwhelming to me. And like that I’ll just have all this inner turmoil that doesn’t really fit or make sense with anything that is going on externally to me. And then I was thinking about how, a lot of times, whatever is brewing inside me, since I don’t know necessarily what it is, or where it comes from, it will boil over, and get cast outward, projected onto things that are happening around me, possibly imbuing them with more complexity and difficulty than they really deserve.

Yeah, we were just saying that a lot of times you’ll create drama around yourself, when there is none. Like, you’ll create or invest things with drama that happen externally to somehow match, or explain or correlate to whatever is happening internally. And then, I’ll find myself reacting to something REALLY strongly, like way more than I should be, cause it’s not that big a deal, but it just has been invested and identified with something else, something that I’m really experiencing purely inside.

Anyway, I don’t know if that’s insightful or inspiring to anybody else, but it really helps me sort things out, and to keep an eye out for whats really happening around me, versus inside of me.
