Bret: I agree that John Fogerty is cheesy. I mean, that whole song about baseball really annoys the hell out of me. It’s incredibly bad. You know, myself, I used to think that CCR was fucking shit. And then something happened. I don’t know what the hell it was, or when, or why, but all of a sudden, BAM! They fucking hit me upside the head, and I suddenly realized they are nothing short of AMAZING! Seriously!

Here are my favorite songs of theirs:

  • Hey Tonight
  • Born on the Bayou
  • Fortunate Son
  • Dammit, I just want to write all of them. But yeah, those are some good gateway tracks.

    It’s one of those things, where you have to swallow your kind of initial revulsion towards it, really give it a listen, and just let it fucking work through you. And suddenly, you will be completely absorbed in how badass it is. The Dude in the Big Lebowski isnt all pissed off about his CCR tapes being messed up when his car is stolen for no reason.

    And yeah, in the end, you will come to realize that CCR is way better than the damn White Stripes. Same thing applies for Neil Young: I used to think he was crap, and then something just clicked one day, and I was like, HOLY MOSES! And now, here I am. I actually like CCR a little better than Young, I’d say. I mean, I love me some Neil Young, but I think on a day-to-day basis, that CCR is way more palatable.
