New Article Published on Religious Syncretism
Last night I wrote an article I’m pretty happy with about syncretism. Usually this term is used somewhat negatively to describe “artificial” or “created” religions, which are the result of other religions being fused together. As opposed to a divinely inspired or “revealed” religion. Anyway, I think it’s totally cool, and wrote an article about how I think it’s totally cool. So there!
What else… yeah, heres a link to the article, titled “Religious syncretism is the shit!“. I really had a blast writing it, and am hard at work figuring out how to approach the followup article to it. Which deals on a small scale with using a syncretic approach to personal spiritual symbols, syncretic mapping, and the concept of syncretism as a form of social protest.
Yeah, totally heady stuff. It’s all about story-systems (which is my new pet name for religions & things like that) and how they operate and overlap. I’m going for this whole thing where I approach serious topics but try to write about them in a way that’s not boring or overly academic, although you still end up learning interesting stuff from it. You’ll have to let me know if I succeed.
