So here I am, still in Baltimore for a couple more days. Like I said, having a damn blast. Everything feels different than before I left. But its probably that I’m different. But everyone else I run into seems different too. And much happier. Maybe it was just the winter time blues that were getting everybody down. Who knows. Anyway, its nice to see it all.
So I’ve got a little bit of downtime here amidst all my hangings out. It’s nice. I think this is what it will be like when I am travelling cross country next year. Except different. Maybe even better, cause theres more unexpectedness to it all. It turns out I’m pretty serious about travelling all of next year, because I have told virtually every person that I have run into since I got here. Even people that didn’t ask and don’t care. First I tell them that New York “isn’t my bag” and then I say how I’m gonna go cross country after my lease is up. So you know what that means: I am. That’s often how I do stuff, is I cook on it for a while, and then one day I just find myself blurting out to everyone what I am going to do, as though it has been concretely decided for a long long time. I mean it has, but it just feels really official - now that I have put my travelling hat on. It just feels right, this vagabonding.
It’s also great how everyone I run into here, I love. I love hearing what they say, how they say it, what they’ve been up to. Even people who I didn’t really like before, now, everything seems different. I’m more open or something. It’s a spectacular feeling. It turns out that all my months of secret seclusion in New York have really served me well, so I’m happy about that.
Luckily, there seem to be no ants on John’s desk this time, as I am typing. That was really grossing me out before, I’ll tell you what. Man, I am really jonesing to do some research right now or something. Maybe I will start reading that book about Monsters that I just got. Yeah, I think I will. I love monsters. I always have.
