The indentation between your nose and your upper lip

I am reading right now, a book by James Hillman, called “The Soul’s Code“. I don’t love it, but he’s somebody I need to know more about, because he has touched already on a lot of issues that I feel will be (and are already) central to my work.

Anyway, so there was just a neat little passage that was talking about an old Jewish legend, wherein, God created all the souls at the beginning of time in Heaven. And when they are sent down to Earth to take human bodies, the Angel presses its finger above your upper lip, to seal them, so that your soul cannot inadvertently blurt out all the wonders and mysteries of Heaven. And that the little divot, below your nose and above your mouth is the imprint of that angel’s seal upon your lips.

It’s almost like the River Lethe in the underworld of Greek mythology, which the passing souls (who were to be reincarnated on earth) had to drink from, so that they would forget their past lives, and be able to start anew, without all that stuff bogging them down in their next incarnation.
