Oh, and this page is full of charts about that 8 circuit thing, along with one I particularly like, using Star Trek as an analogy. And another page that uses examples from Gilligans Island. WOW! Holy crap! Gilligan’s Island really is a crazy interesting model representation of the mind. Whoa! What if all balanced fictional groups (say, the characters on friends) are all actually different models of interaction among complexes in the mind. This guy is losing me with his explanation of Mrs. Howell though. Still though, that was a great charge to my brain though, cause I wasn’t even looking at story-systems as detailed as I should be. I should be watching TV to see what are the prevailing systems of polytheistic mind models. BLAHAAAH!!! I feel like I’m a cyborg and I just short-circuited…
Back to Leary for a second:
You know, maybe what I was saying in my articles about monotheistic mind isn’t quite accurate enough. That thing about Gilligans Island and Friends being models of how complexes interact with each other, thats polytheism right there. But thats an offshoot of something bigger, which is monotheistic in its scope. Um, how do I explain this… its like, the Church in the Middle Ages tried to enforce strict Christianity, but the people kept to their paga-rooted practices, and beliefs, and the Church Fathers realized this, and allowed them to worship the Saints, but worked out an elaborate hierarchy system, under the control of one monotheistic God.
Oh, I was just reminded before of a good article topic for me to write about: how Pokemon/Digimon are actually geared to get kids used to the idea of avatars, that is, projecting their activity & consciousness through a computer/digital replacement version of themselves, in order to better prepare them for the roles they will play in the future workforce. Those damn Japanese! They are so clever and far ahead of us. Damn, thats a pretty good article topic. I wish I thought of that earlier in the night, cause I would have whipped that out.
WHOA SHIT! In that digital polytheism essay, they talk about how Tarot and the I Ching are “iconic programming languages”.
