Rebecca - I was just noodling around, looking for information on the pillars of Solomon’s Temple - Boaz and Jachim (who some say are the twins of Gemini), and I discovered that the High Priestess in the Tarot is seated between those two pillars. But that’s not why I point this out to you - I never realized before that the High Priestess is associated with Persephone, who you mentioned on your site the other day was always some sort of important figure to you. Maybe you already knew this. Me, I didn’t.

I am also tieing this into this thing about Jesus having a twin brother in Thomas. And that Gemini are the archetypal twins - Castor and Pollux. One of whose father was Zeus, and one who was some king. I forget the name. And then you have Jesus, son of God, and Thomas, who I am theorizing (although I can’t find anything that explicitly statesit) is the flesh and blood son of Joseph, who is actually a descendant of the line of King David & King Solomon.

So, if I am getting this right, you have this figure, the High Priestess (who looks startlingly like depictions of the Virgin Mary), sitting between these two “pillars of Solomon’s temple” (which may be said to represent symbolically Jesus and Thomas, heirs through Joseph, to Solomon). As Mary, she unites them as their mother, and through her is “gained access to the temple”.

Also! I just realized that she is holding in her hand the Torah! So this ties her also into the Shekina/Sophia thing I was looking at earlier. Holy crap! I feel like I just unravelled a major mystery here! And, shit, I didn’t even delve into trying to tie this into Persephone, or Isis, or Artemis (who herself is the twin of Apollo), all of whom are said to be represented by the High Priestess. Wow! My mind is really spinning here!

Another thing to bear in mind is how some people suggest that the Tarot and archetypes in general are vibrational frequencies, through which one can attain states of transcendent consciousness. That means that somehow, the figure of the Virgin Mary may be an entry point into the vibrational frequency represented by Gemini. Whoo!
