OOH OOH!
I thought of a hilarious one to do: about “chrism” that oil that they anoint you with during the Catholic rite of Confirmation, and how its supposedly pagan origins were where priestesses would use it to anoint (ahem, that is, lube) the holy phalluses. Now, THAT’S religion. OR! And this one is good too - to look into how Mary Magdalene/Virgin Mary were supposedly priestesses at the temple (maybe of Ishtar) and that, as priestesses, they had sacred sex. And that children conceived during such unions were called “sons of god”. Both of those are good. Maybe also, just looking at the cults of the Mary’s in general, and the Black Madonnas of the middle ages. I’ve already done a bunch of research about that in the past, so it would be pretty easy to put it all together. Alright! That sounds like fun! Maybe I’ll even try to work in all that Sophia/Shekina/High Priestess stuff. We’ll see!
Some time I also want to look more into how St. Peter was never really a Pope at all, and how that’s all made up.
(Hm, I’ve never come across this before: “Unlike the element of baptism which is water, the chrism is combustible and thus symbolizes the fire of the Holy Spirit. Therefore this sacrament is sometimes called the Baptism of Fire.”)
OK! I’m heading home!
