Law & Order
You know, after watching a bit more than usual of the shit that passes for tv nowadays, I have realized just how horribly brain-washing tv really is. It’s like if you spend 3 hours watching mindless comedies and heavy handed cop shows, and then, with no break, you watch the so-called “news,” you’re getting the exact same thing, the same kind of tone, symbolism, approach, style, content, everything. Except the “news” is supposedly “true.” But I think that on a really fundamental level, part of the mind makes no division between “fact” and “fiction” and just takes this all in, builds its connections, builds its world out of both, and it is only later at a higher level that some other part then goes in and draws circles around whats “true” and what’s “imaginary” oftentimes in a totally arbitrary way. And it seems like its probably pretty easy to hand that part of the mind a pre-drawn map of what the “true” spots are, and what’s “fake”. But the trick is, that they can feed you both fact and fiction, then say that you can only “believe” the facts, and that the fiction is “escapist” or “entertainment” and shouldnt be taken seriously. But its impossible, because your mind takes everything seriously at this deeper level. Its a clever trick, but once you snap out of it, its so apparent that their hand is everywhere.
