Email subscription?
I found a service called Bloglet, which seems to allow visitors to your site to enter their email and “subscribe” to your blog. They will get an email once a day, which can (A) say that your site has been updated, (B) include the first few lines of each new post, or (C) include all text from all posts. It seems sort of neat, in a way, but I wonder if anyone would really sign up for it. If I instituted the option, I would have it do (B) where it just sends you the teaser, and you can read the rest on your own. But why not just visit my site when you want to? That seems to make more sense. Although I do love adding these little gadgety things into this though. It really gets me off when they work right, and add some small new element of functionality. Hooray! I say to them. Hooray.
