Unleashing the dragon
Oh right, and this is the original artist who really solidified all this stuff in my mind. She got me thinking about how people use images/myths in their life.
A couple observations: if you read her bio (she’s 36), she says she has 4 kids, and then you have this picture of a hand and 4 tiny fairies that she made. This hand really has a kind of provider-y feel to it, wouldn’t you say? And she has a centaur-love picture of her and her boyfriend. And another one of them as mermaids (note the awkward physical exchange they are having - it says so much to me).
And another excellent example of what I’m talking about. Look at this dragon, and her caption about being in a bad mood when she drew it. Compare it to this one, where there is a busty woman who has the dragon on a leash (controlling her anger & frustration), and it says “she’s the mistress of the dragon“.
They are all really kind of beautiful to me. Almost like they are these little transparent windows right into her life. And the way she writes about them too is very compelling. It makes me wonder how consciously she is playing with these symbols, you know? More about her to follow. She’s great.
