Fighting back
I just thought of a nice way to fight back against all this music downloading bullshit. Have you ever heard any of those downloaded files that are corrupted, that the companies intentionally flood into the data stream, so that they get picked up and copied around users systems? Usually, they take the form of just one snippet of the song looped to the proper sound length. I’ve also heard ones that start normal, and then dissolve into noise or clicking after about 15 seconds or something.
What if I were to make my own modified versions of files to reintroduce into the data stream, which contained something like anti-RIAA messages? Shit like that. I’m not saying it would probably spread too far - most people might listen to it once and then delete it. I would have to hide whatever i was going to do in the songs themselves. Like maybe splice in messages during the song itself, so they wouldnt realize until they were a few minutes deep into it. Hilarious. I just may do that.
I wonder what sort of things I should make these files say? How come no one else is using these sorts of ideas to transmit messages to audiences? No one is putting like “vote bush out of office” messages out there. It would be way cool if somebody did. Although, I don’t think Bush is likely to get voted out, so it would have to be a better message than that.
UPDATE!
Here’s a funny variation on that idea: What if I recorded a message into music files which had a computer voice saying, “If you are hearing this message, you have downloaded a media file illegally, and may be prosecuted for doing so.” People would totally buy that! They would get scared shitless! Hilarious! What else could I add into that, which would make it worthwhile… maybe I could be like, “Just kidding. Those RIAA guys are nothing but a bunch of fucktards.” Hilarious! Oh man! I really have to think about this some more!
