On going “post”-al
Dispositive just wrote a killer rant about lawschool that I really like. It reminds me of something that I can’t quite recall the whole context. It was about giving people licenses to succeed in the world… I think I bookmarked it. It was from Andrew Carnegie or something. Let me look…
Aha! God bless saving things you find online in blogs. It’s about compulsory schooling, and etc etc. Here’s the main part that sparkled in recognition on reading your post:
- Carnegie proposed [1890, the Gospel of Wealth] that men of wealth re-establish a synthetic free enterprise system (since the real one was no longer possible) based on cradle-to-grave schooling. The people who advanced most successfully in the schooling that was available to everyone would be given licenses to lead profitable lives, they would be given jobs and promotions and that a large part of the economy had to be tied directly to schooling.’”
