Blogging alternatives (or: “I do it right, you do it weird”)

Two things that I don’t do that I think are weird, even though I guess I understand why people do them:

(1) Anonymous or semi-anonymous blogging (rather than having your name across the top - like me)

(2) Blog-splitting: wherein you have one personal “fun” blog, and one strictly research or topical blog.

For me, I couldn’t see doing it any other way than I am, with my name on it for all the world to see, and having in a hodge-podge of personal and research stuff. I think I like when the research is mixed in, cause you get to see the context of why this person is thinking about these things, rather than what can sometimes become a certain intellectual distance.

Blah blah blah.

UPDATE!

Also, from a sheer logistical standpoint, I find it to be too much work to categorize everything into personal vs. research. I try to use my mental energy to unify rather than divide. I find my mind and life work a lot better that way.
