Oliver:
Check this out. It’s from the site of the House of Representatives, and is about the Congresswoman who wanted to have Congress investigate allegations that the CIA introduced crack cocaine to South Central LA in the early 80’s
Apparently, the story first broke in 1996, in the San Jose Mercury News, by a reporter named Gary Webb. It seems that this was investigated by the DOJ at some point, and there is a paper online on their site, with conclusions saying that the story was overblown and not entirely factual. But it’s very wishy-washy. They basically leave it open, and even say something to the effect that they may have been lied to in their investigation by “special interests” looking to protect themselves. Obviously.
Besides those items from the House, and the DOJ above, here is a page o’ links that looks pretty good, as far as moving forward with researching this info, which I plan to. Actually, this site is hosted within the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s site, which is fucking awesome of them. Also, they have a page of counter-culture revolutionaries which I want to look into more as well.
