It’s a disease

I’ve caught the drawing bug again. This comes mere days after talking to Bret about how I haven’t been much interested in drawing lately. Ever since I found out that cafepress has a new thing where you can publish and sell books (on demand) through your site, without putting any money down, I have been itching to do just that. I had this revelation today that I could put together highlights from my illustration portfolio, and then do that. Cause some of those are just so nice. I love them. But I was looking at the specs, and they only do b/w interiors, which is a bummer.

Cause I checked, and a lot of those just look like ass with no colors. I’m all about the colors, usually. Just how I prefer to roll when I have the choice. But I have a couple ones where it’s black and white, that are pretty hot.

So maybe I’ll still do it, but come up with a batch of new drawings to use. Format. I was thinking about format. How do I want to present the whole thing? One thing I always wanted to do was put together a quasi-tarot deck, with like my own characters and suits and stuff, so that it would be pretty much totally different. But it would still be some sort of like divination type thingy. It would be like characters who I have noticed throughout my life, or coming up a lot in my reading or drawing or whatever.

And it would let me pirate different sections from drawings that I have, and present them in different contexts and stuff. It could be pretty cool, actually. I’m really sort of taken with the idea now. Another thing I would kind of like to reference is this old-school Japanese print-maker I really like, named Kuniyoshi. He did all these different print series, of like famous heroes and stories and stuff. Its totally awesome.

More on this as it develops
