My god’s better than your God

As promised, here is my post about this fucko of a general, Army Lt. Gen. William “Jerry” Boykin, who said all kinds of whacked fucked up shit that’s only fanning the flames of hatred. But instead of fanning them in the appropriate direction - against assholes like him - it’s towards the Muslims. Fucking moron.

He apparently gave some speech in front of some Christian audience, who I’m sure fucking lapped all this shit up too. The meat of the talk was something like:

In January, Boykin recalled a conversation with a Muslim fighter in Somalia who had said that Allah would protect him from U.S. forces.

“I knew that my God was a real God and his was an idol,” Boykin said.

In June, Boykin said, “The battle that we’re in is a spiritual battle. Satan wants to destroy this nation, he wants to destroy us as a nation, and he wants to destroy us as a Christian army.”

Actually, if I may be so bold as to rip off this person’s blog, cause they did an excellent job of piecing together all the most irritating parts of this story from various news sources….

In one speech, General Boykin, an evangelical Christian, said God selected George Bush as President.

“Why is this man in the White House? The majority of Americans did not vote for him. . . . He’s in the White House because God put him there for a time such as this.”

And

We in the army of God, in the house of God, kingdom of God have been raised for such a time as this,” Gen Boykin told an audience last year, according to an investigation in the Los Angeles Times.

Anyway, read that woman’s post on it for more quotes and stuff. But yeah, the Pentagon/Defense Dept is basically refusing to chastise him for saying any of this. Even though it flies in the face of Bush’s continually saying Islam isn’t the enemy. But it serves his purpose though, which is to get people riled up, freaked out, amped up on adrenaline to fight tribal wars, which is the foundation of his whole presidency. Just pushing those second circuit mammalian territorial buttons.

It also reminds me of the other day at the close of the second wake for my grandfather, the one held in the church. The concluding song was “Our God Reigns“. Paul and I joked about how they just needed to make sure that none of us forgot whose God reigned and whose didn’t before we left. (Also relevant, Erin has a good quote from Ghandi).
