I saw this a while ago on Creativity Machine: she’s called “Jenny Everywhere” and is an “open source comic book character”. It’s a great idea. You get to just use the character for whatever you want, however you want basically.
- She’s open source! She’s multidimensional! That’s right, the character of Jenny Everywhere may be used without permission by anyone. And you won’t have any continuity concerns with The Shifter, because… because she shifts.
It’s a pretty neat idea. I like it. Nobody owns it. Nobody should own characters anyway. It’s stupid. Like, DC doesnt own Batman. You and I own Batman, just as much as we own the sun or the moon or our unconscious minds.
Anyway, I was thinking about making some open source characters. Probably the first one I will set up that way will be Doctor Future. One time I was him for Halloween. He has a Big Robot Head, and wears a big furry cape. He talks in a high pitched voice, and his catch phrase is “Zero Gravity! Hyah!” And he has mysterious cosmic powers. Beyon that, its pretty much a free for all.
Hm, I wonder how you go about dedicating a creation to the public domain? Oh, here we go… once again from the Creative Commons site: Public Domain Dedication. I like them more and more all the time.
