A not-yet-chilling article on Salon about the Defense Department’s quietpush to fill up all the empty spaces on local draft boards all across the country.
Basically the article is about how everybody says there are no plans to reinstate the draft, but this is the first time since 1981 that they have been trying to fill up the draft boards. And everyone is like, oh it would be suicide for Bush to institute the draft before the election next year, and that Congress would never pass it. But shit, Congress has been giving that asshole whatever his cronies want, so I don’t trust them to stop protect me at all. Furthermore, all they’d have to do to drum up support for the draft is let another high profile terrorist attack occur on American soil, and then it would be all over.
Boy I can’t wait.
Oh, the other good news is that they removed a bunch of the loopholes from the draft last time around; so yeah, that’s really cool too. Hooray! No more pesky student deferments and other shit. All that’s left is running, burning your draft card, conscientious objection or becoming a religious minister - cause they seem to be exempt.
