Came across this link randomly to a geocities site showing some photos of different Incorrupt Bodies of the Saints. Pretty interesting in light of two different things.
One, I have actually seen one of this in person, St. Francis Cabrini. I went to her shrine with my mom, because my mom really likes her or something. In fact, as I recall, there may be a family folklore story about my mom being born with a club-foot and her parents taking her to the Mother Cabrini shrine (here in NYC somewhere), and my mom was healed after that.
Second, according to that monster book I’m currently reading, an incorrupt body was also taken as a sign that someone was a vampire, and depending on where and when, their body would have been burned to destroy the vampire.
Here’s a link to a thing about incorrupt saints from the Fortean Times.
You know what? Mother Cabrini in person doesn’t look normal in person. By that I mean, it looks like her body has been pumped full of some kind of waxy preservative so as to keep her there under glass without significantly changing. She doesn’t look real at all. But maybe that’s just how incorruptible saints look. I really have no idea. It’s the only one I have seen. (PS, the altar is this glass box with her inside of it).
