“Please don’t call them ‘resistance fighters’; they are ‘insectoid devils from outer space, bent on eating our babies and raping our women!’”



Okay, it’s been a couple days since I was filled with any righteous indignation, and its been probably weeks since I was filled to such a boiling point as I am right now. We just heard on that Democracy Now broadcast (mentioned in the previous post) one of the most fucked up things I have heard yet about the war in Iraq.

The Los Angeles Times has issued an internal memo, after a top editorial meeting, which tells its employees to stop describing anti-American Iraqi forces as “resistance fighters” because it casts them in a romantic light similar to French resistance fighters in WWII or Jews fighting against the Nazis in Warsaw. Instead, they request that employees refer to these sand-devils as “insurgents” or “guerillas.”

And you know what’s the most fucked up part of this? Is that the story is from Reuters news agency, but I have not yet found any American sources reporting this at all (excluding a minor newswatch group out of San Francisco, but I wouldn’t expect any less from them). That’s so fucked up that in order to find out what’s going on in my own country, I have to go halfway across the globe (electronically).

    I’m really seriously pissed off about this. Why? Is it because I sympathize with these “resistance fighters”? Yes, that’s exactly why. And that’s because they ARE resistance fighters. A foreign government has invaded their country, taken it over, and is ruling it by force. And they are resisting that. And in my mind and my heart, that seems like the right and noble thing for them to do.

    How can I say that though? Aren’t I sad if “our boys” get killed by these “insurgents”? You know, I don’t want to say that I’m not, because it sucks when people are taken before their time, and its tough on their families - but those are the consequences of what happens when you give up your conscience, consciousness & individuality to the Great Beast of the State, and when you dedicate your life to acting out our leaders dreams of petty violence and of waging thoughtless destruction on the face of the earth and against reason. Oh wait, what am I saying? They are just acting as “peace-keepers.” Right? Wrong!

    And you know what else pisses me off to high holy hell? Is when people shed tears for the 300+ Americans killed in the straight up invasion and occupation of Iraq, but no one even blinks over the 15,000+ Iraqis who have been killed, many of whom were civilians. It’s fucking ludicrous.

    The day when this is all gonna have to change (wink-wink) is fast approaching. Where is our American Resistance Movement? Where are our insurgents? When will we stand up against the evil alien imperialist government who is occupying OUR country? KABOOM!
