More Hindu Goddess stuff

I found a bunch more Hindu goddess pictures that I want to save for myself. Some of them are Kali, some Durga, some Devi, and some are just called Goddesses. I had a weird cool dream about all this stuff last night, that I’m not even going to begin trying to describe.

  • Kali, The Terrible
  • A bunch of goddess batik paintings
  • Goddess Tantra paintings
  • Occult Tantra paintings
  • The Pale Goddess
  • The Red Goddess
  • The Blue Goddess
  • A Brown Goddess
  • Adi Kali
  • Kali on Shiva (I really like this one)
  • The Ten Mahavidyas (And article on the Ten Manifestations of Devi)
“Each of the Devi’s manifested forms made Shiva realize essential truths, made him aware of the eternal nature of their mutual love and most significantly established for always in the cannons of Indian thought the Goddess’s superiority over her male counterpart. Not that Shiva in any way felt belittled by this awareness, only spiritually awakened. This is true as much for this Great Lord as for us ordinary mortals. Befittingly thus they are referred to as the Great Goddess’s of Wisdom, known in Sanskrit as the Mahavidyas (Maha - great; vidya - knowledge). Indeed in the process of spiritual learning the Goddess is the muse who guides and inspires us. She is the high priestess who unfolds the inner truths.”
  • Devi with Sword & Severed Head (I gotta figure out what this one means. It blows my mind!)
  • White Kali standing on Black Shiva
  • The Great Kali (”straddling” Shiva)
  • Story depiction of the birth of Kali
  • Kali in birth-giving posture
  • The birth of Durga
In India a woman with a fiery temperament is often nicknamed Durga in recognition of the divine spark within her. She is the fervent autonomous goddess who knows how to stand for herself.
  • Kali with a bunch of heads and arms eating a bunch of people with her tongue
  • Mahavidya Chinnamasta
  • Tara - the goddess who guides through troubles
  • The Mahavidya Tara - she holds scissors in her hands to cut all attachments
  • Shodashi the goddess who is sixteen years old

  • - END -
