There’s no such thing as uncensored writing

There is a good comment conversation (I think) going on over at Pataphysical over one of his posts regarding blogging being watered-down from other kinds of writing. I personally believe this is crap, and just wanted to save my own comments here for posterity’s sake:

i dont censor or cripple anything that i choose to say on my blog, but of course there are things that i choose to keep to myself because they are for myself or for people i choose specifically to share it with. that doesn’t make me a liar or handicapped when i am writing in my blog. it just means you are making decisions, and honestly i’m irritated that you would call your own blog crappy. maybe its not the blog that’s crappy, but the decisions you are making about what to share and whom to share it with.

also, in response to sahalie, everything is censored writing. there is no such thing as uncensored writing. everything is chosen. details are included and excluded, maybe at different levels of conscious intent, but everything is censored. everything is edited. everything is packaged. and thats not bad, thats just simply the way i think this shit goes.

shit, life is censored and edited down from all possible experiences available in the universe. by where you’re born, who your parents are, your DNA, your gender. by how you perceive things with your senses and experience the world with your body, heart and mind
