I was looking for some info on the Maori style of tattooing, moko, and happened across this interesting article, Megalithic New Zealand. It’s from a site called Celtic New Zealand, which is an exploration into the historical possibility that ancient Indo-Europeans lived in New Zealand even before the Maori people came there. Supposedly, the Maori say they learned the art of moko from the people who were here before them. According to this article anyway. And they talk about the similarities between the complex swirling spiral work of the Maori art, as compared to that of Celtic design. Pretty interesting.
