It seems I’m worth something… to somebody somewhere

It looks like my blog is valued by BlogShares at $3,593.73. Which means nothing, really, cause this is far from scientific. For example, it rates me higher than Oblivio (whose site is fantastically more popular than mine online), which is clearly a crock of shit, since on technorati, I have a mere 14 inbound blogs, while he has a whopping 232 inbound blogs.

But Technorati also is pretty unreliable, I find. Because based on referral URL’s that I have seen over the past several months, there are something like 5-8 other blogs who link to mine who never show up on any of these indexes, for whatever reason.

You know what else has really incomplete data? When you do that old trick in Google where you type in “link:www.timboucher.com/journal.” First of all, it shows me links from my own site to there, and second the list of the rest is wildly incomplete.

Anyway, in conclusion, it’s sometimes neat to look at these things, cause it sheds some light on the distribution of your work online, but they are far from really reliable tracking tools.
