Gettin’ to the bottom of it

From the history of santa (another Christian trying to say how christmas is evil and pagan)

In ancient ritual, Saturn appears as the stationary sun or central fire at the North Celestial Pole. When Saturn ruled the world, his home was the summit of the world axis. Manly P. Hall observes, “Saturn, the old man who lives at the North Pole and brings with him a sprig of evergreen (the Christmas tree), is familiar to the little folks under the name Santa Claus. All the ancient world looked upon the Polar center as the “middle place, resting place, or steadfast region” occupied by the universal monarch.”

Well, maybe it’s just a coincidence that Saturn lived at the North Pole and brought gifts…but wait…who is this jolly old fat man with the wreath around his head and red cheeks and a red nose? Oh, it’s Silenus, the tutor of Bacchus (the child god of wine). Why is Silenus’ nose and cheeks so red? He’s been enjoying the fruits of Bacchus. But don’t worry, he’s a jolly drunkard, never loses his temper and brings laughter where ever he goes. Why does his appearance resemble that of father Christmas (i.e. Santa Claus)? Is it just another coincidence? Now here comes a big man with a long white beard from the North, and he’s packed with presents. He also bears a strong resemblance to Santa. But alas, he is not! It has turned out to be the god Odin of the Norseman. But why do all these pagan gods look so much like Santa? I thought the legend of Santa was based on a Catholic bishop named St. Nickolaus, you know, good ol’ St. Nick!

It seems that since pagan times it had been traditional to give presents during the winter solstice:

‘The Romans gave presents during Saturnalia festival, and the men of the North worshipped the god Odin, who rode across the frozen wastes to bring his peoples presents in the middle of winter. Long before Christianity, people expected presents. Obviously the church could not let people carry on believing that Odin would bring them, so St. Nickolas was brought in to solve the problem in order that pagan custom might continue under thoroughly respectable patronage of a saint, whose name was now simplified to ‘Santa Claus’”.

You know, I’m just doing this research cause I think its fun and makes Christmas more interesting, and not becuase i think it proves the evil origins of everything. It must take a lot of effort to be so full of anger and fear like all these hardcore christians seem to do. I guess the difference is that I think it’s wonderful that everything has secret occult origins, and they think its the worst thing that’s ever happened to them. Poor bastards.
