Visuddha & Divinorum

I was just doing some reading about the Throat Chakra. I don’t know a great deal about any of them, but it seems worth looking into more. Plus I had an experience last night in which that area of energy seemed to play a role. Another one about Visuddha, the throat chakra.

Anyway, last night my smoking of the salvia went really well. I can’t really describe what happened so much. It’s always kind of different with that stuff. I think I learned how to burn the leaves properly finally, for maximum impact. But by the time I uncovered the secret, I was on the third bowl, so I wasn’t about to go in for more. Not a lot fits in a bowl though. It’s not tightly packed, like pot. So three bowls is like an ordinary-strength hit. It seems to quite reliably deliver me to a place where it becomes difficult to orient my hands and any items I may be holding (such as a bowl and a lighter). It’s a little bit like having your hands feeling pulled away from you. But not in a bad or scary way. In fact, I’ve never had anything bad or scary happen to me smoking it, but I’ve also been careful only to smoke it in the right frame of mind.

The other main impression that I get on it is when I close my eyes, I ’see’ all kinds of plantlike snaking movements, swirling and slithering by. Leaves opening and closing, vines moving. Again, its not scary, its quite comfortable. There is definitely a sensation of being connected to some other kind of plantlike consciousness. That happens to me with pot, but in a different way, and it’s dependent a lot on the type & quality of weed (although I don’t know much about that overall). It’s kind of similar to the feel that Tom Bombadil and Treebeard have in the Lord of the Rings. In fact, when it first hit me last night, and I was trying to get myself situated on my bed to drift off, I had the distinct impression that some sort of grandfatherly plant figure had given me passage to somewhere else, and that the others there were making room for me.

In fact, that relates to the other prevailing impression that i consistently get when I smoke salvia: that I am connected to certain other people and things. And there are pieces of conversations that I hear/feel. And can interact with. It’s not ordinarily people that I know, although if I try to focus on certain people, I can kind of bring them into clarity. But if they are not there already, not party to whatever I’m experiencing, then they fade away quickly. It’s very nice to have this feeling of company and community during the whole thing.

It also becomes much easier for me to become aware of the energy patterns in my body. To see them and to direct them more consciously. Almost like you can perceive aspects of energy in your body holographically. For this reason, I suspect this plant would be very useful for healing purposes, whether it’s on yourself or on somebody else. If you’re sensitive to that sort of thing, that is.

I think I’m gonna start working with this plant more frequently again. I forgot really what it was like, and what happened when I smoked it. I don’t really recall why I stopped, but it feels like a good thing to work with again for right now. I’ll give it a few days though. I have yet to reach a really intense visionary state with it, which is supposed to be possible. I think I need to improve my smoking technique, and then what happens after I have smoked it.

UPDATE!

I was just looking at Erowid, and they have a section of collected experiences using salvia divinorum. I was just reading through them and it’s surprising how many people have had similar experiences and impressions to the ones I have described here and elsewhere. Based on these reports, I think what I am working with is a very mild dose. I am just using the ordinary non-enhanced leaf, while some people are smoking greater amounts of leaves of 10X strength, fortified with salvinorin extract. So perhaps I will take this to the next level.
