Also, interestingly, I had compared the character of Jack Sparrow to Bugs Bunny a week or two ago, and according to an interview I found from the person who searched for those two together, Johnny Depp & the writers of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie actually had Bugs Bunny in mind for his character. I’m just that good at picking up on stuff like that - thank you very much.

[Interviewer:] For your character Jack Sparrow you were inspired by Bugs Bunny and Keith Richards…

[Depp:] It were more the writers of the screenplay that had Bugs Bunny in mind, because the character can manipulate the world around him so he always gets what he wants. Well, for myself I tried to define what pirates were in that time and came to the conclusion that in a certain way they were the rock-stars of their era. That’s why Keith Richards was an example for me. To that I added a little Pepe Le Pew. That’s a cartoon figure that lives in his own reality, no matter what happens. Pepe Le Pew falls in love with a cat and thinks that the cat loves him too. The cat can’t stand him, but he stays convinced that the feelings are mutual. He doesn’t see reality.
