Score one for the pirates!

Great news everybody!! Not that I wasn’t still file-sharing anyway, but I this is still a great victory. From, File-swappers may be safe — for now:

“In a surprise setback for the beleaguered recording industry, a U.S. appeals court ruled Friday that record labels cannot force Internet service providers to name customers who illegally copy music online.

Existing copyright law does not allow record labels to force Internet providers to turn over customer names without a formal lawsuit, the court said, adding the industry’s legal argument ”borders upon the silly.”

Man, theres a quote from the RIAA about how they want to defend the rights of artists and songwriters, which is all miraculously bullshit, since most artists and songwriters sign over all their rights to their record labels, and a great many end up in debt to their labels. Anyway, let’s hear it for FUCK THE RIAA!!
