Demons, cross-breeding, synchronistic apes
This article just gets better and better… he talks about two fucking totally crazy stories, one of somebody named Rene Randolier, and one of somebody named Sawney Bean.
Randolier was supposed to be a huge hulking brute who lived in a shitty part of Savannah in the late 1700’s, until he was suspected of murdering a mother and two girls. At which point, he fled into the complex of tunnels underneath the cemetery, and is supposed to have bored throug graves from underneath and feasted on corpses.
Sawney Bean was said to be a monstrous cannibal in Scotland who, together with Mrs. Bean, lived in a cave and caught, pickled and ate travellers, and sired an incestuous brood of children and grandchildren who terrorized the countryside for twenty years, before the king finally came with 400 soldiers, captured and executed the whole family without a trial. Seems like a fucking amazing story. Here’s a bunch of links:
Then there is this quote which I want to try and verify whether the bit about birth defects is true:
- One fact that indicates a strong possibility of cross-specie contamination, is that, as a species, only human beings have over four thousand known genetic defects, while our nearest chromosonal relatives (according to evolutionary science), the great apes, have almost none.
Wow! That’s fucking weird, as I’m writing this, a song by Quasi just came on, called “Better luck next time” which opens with the following lines:
- i’m an old baboon, you’re a barbary ape
i’m an old baboon, you’re a barbary ape
two different creatures with a similar shape
BBC Nature Facts has this to say about barbary apes:
- Barbary apes are the only non-human primate to live in Europe (Gibraltar). Despite their name, they are a monkey and not an ape.
And this is interesting about a type of baboon called the Hamadryas or Sacred Baboon:
- The ancient Egyptians considered hamadryas baboons to be the sacred attendants of Thoth, the scribe to the gods.
Holy shit! I just put on some old Tool. I forgot how fucking incredible they are/were. Shoot! I gotta get back to reading this article!!
