Hirsuit Man & Demonic Computer Games

I meant to write more today, but then my office got hijacked, and we were moved downstairs into a shitty windowless office with less privacy. And of course nobody asked us, and moved all our stuff while we weren’t around. Needless to say, I’m completely thrilled about this… and it has upset my ordinary blogging schedule.

Anyway, I just wanted to record two odd dreams that I had early this morning. One of them involved this weird toy of some sort that was in the shape of a dead person. Full size and everything. It was posable, and you could somehow inflate it into different sizes and body shapes and stuff. And I remember that it was called “Hirsuit Man”. I’m sure of that spelling. Dictionary.com doesn’t recognize that spelling, but does recognize “hirsute,” and says that it means “covered with stiff, coarse hairs” as a plant might be in botany. Although I think it can apply to anything. Interestingly enough, both spellings turn up tons of matches for “hairy babes” and correspondingly hair gay men (ie, porno). Anyway, this “toy” wasn’t covered in hair. In fact, it was wearing an old half-rotted suit, and was laying on a couch in a dark room. From what I remember.

The other dream that I remember a fragment from involved some sort of demonic computer game, in the style of VGA games from like the early 1990’s, such as Bard’s Tale, or something like that. And I remember the opening screen of it was in that pixellated splotchy illustration style of the time, and had this picture of an opening of a cave against a darkening blue sky. Illustrated demons and things were swarming from all around towards the cave mouth. There was something written on the screen, which said something to the effect of “All ye demons and creatures of darkness, enter here.” Here being the cave. It was written in yellow in this cheesy medieval-looking script. My impression of the game was that it really was evil, and that by playing it, you really would be partaking in some kind of ritual “magick” which would indeed serve to call demons and the like to you.

I guess that’s the sort of weird dreams I should expect for spending the evening reading about demon-human-offspring and crazy Scottish cannibals. They weren’t bad dreams though, or nightmares. Just dreams. Funny that both of them took these dark images and somehow wrapped them around this idea of playing, games & toys. I like that that’s how my mind works.
