My mom, a few years ago, gave me the collection of stuff she had of me since a baby: clippings, some photos, report cards, class pictures, shit like that. I was looking through it tonight, cause I’m going through all my stuff to get ready to pack. I found a few things that I liked.
According to my kindergarten final report card, I didn’t yet know how to tie my shoes. I want to scan and write about these class photos from 1st grade to 4th grade, but my scanner is far from set up, so it will have to wait.
Apparently people in my parent’s church wrote me weird letters when I was baptised. My favorite one is written by a kid named Michael Belanger. I have no idea who that is. The letter goes:
- Dear Timothy,
This is the world of God’s family.
I hope you like it here on earth.
And I know you have a really
nice family too! And we all love
you too! So does God! Earth
is a wonderful place to live.
I hope you like it!
Love you allways,
Michael
Belanger
I wonder if he still loves me, as he promised he would. I like how the letter is written to me as though I were an alien who were visiting the planet Earth for the first time.
I also found a “short story” that I am guessing I wrote in like the 2nd grade or thereabouts. It’s very apropos, considering my upcoming trip:
- One day the wind
was extra strong. I
got blown into another
country. I stood up and
walked around. Then I
saw a sign it said
“You are in the middle of
Nowhere.” The End
There is a star of approval drawn in pen at the bottom of the page by whatever teacher I had written it for. Pretty sloppy on her part though, since I have that run-on sentence which should have been broken into “Then I saw a sign. It said,” Oh well.
