Alright, this is my “I need help moving” post, just in case someone with a kind heart and large vehicle is reading my blog.

Basically, my plans for moving are: leave New York City on January 31st, which is two Saturdays from now. My lease is up the 31st, so it only makes sense. Plus I want to work the whole week leading up to that, and make as much moolah as I can.

I looked into renting a U-Haul or other related rental truck. They are all whack expensive. We got one when we moved up here, but me and Drew split it, so it wasn’t bad. But apparently a one way move down to Baltimore that weekend - even with the smallest truck - would cost me almost $400. And that’s not including gas, tolls or deposit on the truck. More annoying than that though is the fact that I wouldn’t even come REMOTELY close to filling even a small 10′ truck. So, nuts to renting a truck basically.

I think I will be ditching my couch here, as much as it pains me to do so. It’s a nice couch that I bought brand new when I moved out on my own (from living with my ex-girlfriend). But I’m figuring I’ll be moving out west after I’m all done travelling anyway, so I won’t be doing myself any favors to hang onto this couch and to have to pay to move it all the way across the country. Anyway, right, so I’ll try selling it in my building, or else on Craigslist, or worse comes to worst, I’ll leave it by the side of the road (cringe!).

So not having a couch will make it so I only have a bunch of boxes of books & assorted stuf, plus a futon bed that breaks down and the mattress which folds. Oh, and a TV, stereo and computer. Basically, it’s a little bit more than would fit in a normal car. But not by a whole lot. So I’m trying to find a friend with a truck, van, mini-van or SUV who wants to do me a huge favor. Of course, I’ll cover tolls & everything, and would be willing to throw a little money on top of that to sweeten the deal.
