Gay Marriage for some, miniature American flags for others

A great Wired news article, Gay Marriage Poll Gets Annulled.

It seems that a more or less evil group, calling themselves the “American Family Association” had a plan to create a web poll, asking people if gay marriage should be legal or what. The intent was to have all their small-minded morons sign it with a firm “Hell no!” and then send the results to Congress, as proof of how stupid they are.

Instead, according to a spokesperson from the AFA, “homosexual activists” found out about it, and started voting in favor of gay marriage. Those evil fags!

“We’re very concerned that the traditional state of marriage is under threat in our country by homosexual activists,” said AFA representative Buddy Smith. “It just so happens that homosexual activist groups around the country got a hold of the poll — it was forwarded to them — and they decided to have a little fun, and turn their organizations around the country (onto) the poll to try to cause it to represent something other than what we wanted it to. And so far, they succeeded with that.”

Right now, the poll is 60.17% in favor of legalizing homosexual marriage, and 7.89% in favor of a civil union with full benefits of marriage.

Take the poll yourself! No matter what you answer, you’ll see this message:

You are being redirected to our NoGayMarriage.com website, where you can sign a petition urging support for a federal marriage amendment to protect traditional marriage between one woman and one man.

I’ll spare you the details of how angry this makes me, since you can probably already tell…

You know, the other day, I was watching a thing on MLK, Jr. and it suddenly occurred to me that as recently as 40 some odd years ago, black people and white people couldn’t even eat in the same restaurants in certain areas and shit. I never realized how recently that struggle had occurred. I always thought of it as some kind of distant historical event, but it suddenly was very tangible to me, especially in light of the current struggle for equal rights for gays. I don’t know. It fucks my mind up that people still think homosexuality is a sin, and that God is going to shed tears and rain destruction on America if we legally acknowledge the fact that people of the same sex can have meaningul life relationships.
