This morning, just before I woke up, I had this dream about a cool cell phone. Which sounds retarded, but hear me out. Anyway, it was like your ordinary flip-up cell phone, but i discovered this weird menu setting, where it turned all the interfaces into Legend of Zelda stuff, like the original NES game. The coolest feature was that, there was this interactive map that was created. Like it was of the entire city of Baltimore, made to look like a village in the Legend of Zelda. All the buildings and roads and paths were depicted with great accuracy. And as you walked around the city, your little Link character would move around on the map, correspondingly.

Needless to say, it was a complete hoot. I think I have read about something like that on college campuses actually, using PDA’s or other digital equipment. Where it’s got a map of the campus, and an icon that represents you, and other icons that represent people on your friends list or something. So when you are in the vicinity of them, they show up on your map. Which is cool, but is something I would also be sure to turn off all the time, if I had it.

Anyway, so I was imagining combining both these ideas, so that on my imaginary dream cell phone, each of your friends would be represented by another Legend of Zelda character on your map, and you could see where they were and stuff. And I was just thinking about how different places in the city would also probably want to have the insides of their establishments mapped out also, so that when you went inside buildings on your city map, you’d also have detailed info inside the place too. Plus, I was just thinking about stuff too, how your characters could trade “items” which would be like digital files and stuff, between your cell phones, or other equipment.

But yeah, I guess the idea is not too revolutionary, but just the fact that it was all done under the pretext of the original NES Legend of Zelda is really what made the whole thing so cool.
