Brained glass
I was just using my noodle to think up ways to find cool old stained glass windows and cool contemporary stuff. Searching for “demons stained glass” came up with only one viable result. There must be more depictions of evil in traditional stained glass. I’ll keep looking.
Changing my terms to “devil stained glass,” I had the pleasure of coming across a glass artist named Judith Schaechter. Apparently, she is represented by a NYC gallery named Claire Oliver Fine Art. I really like this one piece called “Someone to mourn over me“.
Also like:
- Child bride
- Corona borealis (reminds me of some things I did)
This stuff also reminds me a lot of Dave McKean’s artwork, in terms of how things are put together. A lot of stained glass stuff reminds me of tattoo art as well. Some other neat pictures are here. Another site with some images of hers. An article about her in Art in America from June of last year. Seems there’s also a Museum of Glass in Tacoma, WA.
