This is an especially weird item from sports news, which I usually don’t check. But this one caught my eye. Apparently the University of New Mexico is considering using a live wolf as their football mascot. This seems like a terrible idea for so many reasons. Apparently, a ways back, one of their players was bit by the wolf after missing a pass and rolling out of bounds.

Mathis wasn’t hurt, but he was quoted as saying at the time, “He sure scared me. I’ve got tooth marks in my pants.”

And in an unrelated story, a dog swallowed 28 golf balls and was fine.
