Story-Systems
Something I came across while googling for the term, “Story System” which is something that I have been thinking a lot about over the past year. Their meaning here is a lot different than mine. The closest existing word to what I mean by it, I think, is “mythos“:
- a pattern of beliefs expressing often symbolically the characteristic or prevalent attitudes in a group or culture
I more mean it like it terms of using it as a tool to compare different systems, which consist of stories & characters. Such as Christianity. Well, why not say “religion” or the more neutered “belief system.” Basically, because I want to be able to talk also about things like Star Wars, which people may not literally believe in, but from which they draw a great deal.
Anyway, more about all that some other time. I’m getting too tired to really make any valuable points, but if you want to find out more about what I’m saying, look through some of those articles in the Investigations section of my site, especially the ones about syncretic religions.
