Jesus’ Twin Revisited
I noticed in my referral logs that somebody was nosing around my site for info about Jesus having had a twin brother. I had written an article postulating an idea about Thomas being his twin brother, and them following the classic mythological pattern where one brother is the son of a god, and the other of a mortal “king,” but both born of the same mother. I was trying to re-examine the story of Doubting Thomas from that angle. Kind of an interesting idea.
I’ve received mail about it in the past from a variety of people who also thought it was pretty interesting. Here’s one comment I got:
- Very interesting stuff! I like it a lot! I was reading your Doubting
Thomas article and thought of something. If Thomas had known somehow that one
of them would be immortal and one would die, then maybe Thomas was thinking he
was the immortal one because he saw Jesus die. That could also explain why he
wanted proof so bad, as that would make him the immortal one when he saw Jesus
return. Kind of wierd but I thought I would share it with you. What do you
think?
More recently though, I was contacted by somebody named Robert de Boer who wrote (rather cryptically):
- “Mary the Mother of Jesus had twins. Jesus the firstborn and John
(St.John) the other whom they abandon (adopted).”
Spirit of Truth
Haven’t emailed him back yet. Not sure what to say really. I did however look him up, and his quote, and came across some correspondences with him mentioned on a site called North Texas Skeptics. Haven’t read through the whole thing, but according to this, that line of text above occurred to this De Boer fella in some sort of psychic dream. Pretty interesting.
Anyway, in thinking about all this, I rounded up some more links about Jesus having a twin for anybody who’s interested. Here’s a link about Gnosticism and Thomas, the twin. Also, a link about Rennes-le-Chateau, which was a Cathar heretic stronghold, associated with the Merovingian line of kings, who claim to be descended from Jesus and Mary Magdalene.
Only semi-related to that is a theory about how the story of Jesus’ life is an allegory of the sun’s journey through the Zodiac, sort of like how people say that the 12 Labors of Hercules are the same sort of thing. Plus, on that note, here’s an article about Jesus’ attributes as a Sun God.
