Vampires and the occult

Somebody sent me this letter a week or two ago which I hadn’t gotten a chance to respond to until just now. Here’s the letter and following is my response to it.

I was wondering if u have done investigations on vampires in the occult research as i came a cross some interesting sites that say that the undead come back to life and some of them are done through the occult Just wondering if this is something u investigate

hey, thanks for your note. i appreciate it. as to your question, i have not done a TON of reading about vampires, but i have come across a few good books which might be worth it for you to check out

Monsters: An Investigator’s Guide to Magical Beings
by John Michael Greer

Vampires: The Occult Truth
by Konstantinos

Vampire Book: The Encyclopedia of the Undead
by J. Gordon Melton

I have the first book, but have been meaning to get my hands on a copy of the last two. The last one, I have the companion book about werewolves in the same series, which is an excellent book by paranormal investigator and author, Brad Steiger.

Besides that stuff, the most interesting theories i have ever come across about vampires are in an online book called “From Transylvania to Tunbridge Wells” by Nicholas de Vere. It used to be available on a website called the Dragon Court. But it’s no longer. Type in the name of that book in Google and you’ll find some fragments from it and about it. Basically, the author claims that the legends of elves and vampires and the history of witchcraft goes back to a parallel bloodline to human beings, the Dragon Kings, or the Bloodline of the Holy Grail. It sounds crazy, but the further you get into his research and writing, the more believable it sounds. I just looked on Amazon, and it seems de vere has his own book out there now, which may contain some of the same info:

The Dragon Legacy: The Secret History of an Ancient Bloodline
by Nicholas de Vere

Anyway, I hope this helps get you started in a new direction on your search. Best of luck.

PS. I just found a really good article about De Vere and his ideas. (A warning to people unfamiliar with de Vere’s ideas… um, they are kind of weird, and really argue against the “all men are created equal” axiom - and cause of that, can be hard to swallow, as it borders very closely on weird racism). Here’s another link about the Dragon Court. Also, an interview with De Vere
