Talking Ponies, Santa Claus & E.T.

I had yet another really awesome dream last night. Awesome to me anyway. I don’t know just how awesome it will sound in the re-telling. Anyway, I was someplace weird, like a flea market or a mall or something, trying to find a belt-buckle (cause I’ve been wanting to get one). Eventually, the place was closing and I ended up leaving with this old man, who was supposed to be like my uncle, or something like that.

He drove a semi. Or so I thought in the beginning. Later it just turned into a really big van. But anyway, he and I drive north away from this mall thing, and its night time. He’s driving really fast and sort of crazy. We get closer to where we are headed (which is my “mother’s” house - thought not really my mother), and I ask him just where he plans to park this semi that we’re driving in. He says something about how he knows a place inside this amusement park where they “let him” park it. Which I knew actually meant they weren’t letting him do it all. That’s just where he parked it.

So we roll up to the gates of this amusement park, which has a lot of like forests and stuff around it. Of course, the gates are closed, and the park is closed - for the night, or possibly for the season. Instead of stopping, we just drive straight through the gates. Then he goes up around this twisting path, and finally we park in a wooded area and get out.

From here, we have to trek back through the woods to get to the road again. Soon the woods give way to this sort of big valley/crater-type area. It’s kind of semi-desert, with small trees, lots of brush, and stuff like that. We have to cross this crater area, which is maybe about a mile or two wide. So we walk across it in the moon and starlight, until these wonderful wild ponies come up to us. My “uncle” seems to know them and is friends with them. Of course, they are able to talk, as well. And ask us about where we’re going, and things like that. They were totally awesome and lead us part of the way across the crater/valley. Later, there was also a dog, but he didn’t talk.

I remember towards the end of the hike across, we came to this big clearing, where we could see the whole sky open up before us. Just an absolutely beautiful sight. We’re standing there looking at it, when all of a sudden, off in the distance, we’re able to see this tiny sparkly-illuminated silhouette of Santa Claus being pulled in his sleigh by the reindeer flying across the starscape. Then, after that, we see a little tiny silhouette of Elliott and E.T. flying on that bicycle cross the sky… And then a witch flying on a broomstick, who was supposed to be the Wicked Witch of the West. Also, there was this magical flying viking boat, supposedly bearing the god Heimdall on it. And the sky just became full of these mythical characters flying across in all different directions, very far away. Tiny sparkly silhouettes. It was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen.

After standing and watching a while, we continue onwards, and climb up this sandy cliff wall, up and out of the crater. At the top of it is one of those cement highway dividers, and on the other side is the road. It’s like we’re back in the “real world” now, and there are other people up there too, who have also just come out of the crater-valley, and who have seen what we have seen. They are overwhelmed, and exhausted, but I feel energized. They are struggling with wanting to go back in there and see it all again, and maybe stay there or something. One person was trying to write in blue chalk on the cement barrier. But this seems somehow wrong to me. It’s not the kind of thing you’re supposed to get twice. And you can hold onto it inside you, but it’s almost sacrilegious to try and go back, or to dwell there for too long.
