Another interesting conversation me and my brother had was about color choices. Specifically in terms of choosing glass for stained glass window projects. He and I have a startlingly similar sense of color. Which is weird, because that must mean there’s something genetic about your sense of color.
But the weird part is, watching him choose the colors was really slow and tedious and boring to me. Even though we arrived at the same color choices in the end, more or less, the style of decision-making each of us would go through to get there was very different. It was interesting and oddly instructive to me.
Even moreso, because we got into talking about how working with color is very much related to emotionality. It’s almost as though when you’re figuring out colors in a project, you’re working through some sort of corresponding emotional things. And again, though my brother and I are very similar as people, in a certain way - the emotional work which goes on behind the scenes in creating our lives is very different.
