I’ve had this happen before, where a small tightly-knit group of friends forms. Usually its between three or four people. And I think the key to the whole thing, is that you have something really strongly in common with each of the other members, which you don’t with anybody else. That way, each person somehow resonates with everyone else individually, but also, there is a dynamism which is generated by all of you getting together.

My brother, his friend Octavius and my self, we form just such a triumvirate. It makes for a shit-load of fun when we all get together. Especially when we go out with the intention of causing trouble.

Such as tonight. We’re heading to a silly Pittsburgh dance-club called “MATRIX.” Peter and I have gone the past couple weeks, but this will be the first time we take the power of three out onto the scene. It should be explosively fun.

Three people, all of the same sex as you, is really the optimal amount to go to a club with, I think. That way, you can join forces, as needed, but you have enough autonomy to go around and wreak some sort of havoc by yourself. It can be really cool to get a bunch of people together to hit a club, just because you get a lot of momentum going that way. But invariably, with groups larger than 3 or so, you all kind of end up dancing in a circle. Which is fun, sure, but I like to get around and dance with lots of different people in a night.

Anyway, yup. That’s my plan. Then tomorrow, it’s more kayaking. I haven’t been since a couple weeks ago when I fell in the river.
