I killed a chicken in Reno, just to watch him die

Seven teens in Statesboro, Georgia have been convicted of animal cruelty charges after they beheaded two chickens. Apparently, they were curious as to whether or not the chickens would run around once they were beheaded.

While I don’t condone animal cruelty, I do however condone the moxy of these teens to go out there and find out things for themselves, rather than just wondering about it, or letting somebody else tell them what to believe.

It reminds me of that Alan Moore quote that goes something like:

Faith is for sissies, who daren’t go and look for themselves.

Of course, they DID steal and kill somebody’s chickens, so I guess that’s bad. But, it’s not like the chickens were going to stick around anyway. Maybe they died happier knowing they fed somebody’s curiousity instead of just adding to somebody’s fat ass.

Or not.

In any event, the kids were sentenced to community service of cleaning out chicken coops and reading about “animals’ feelings” and doing some sort of stupid report about animal cruelty.

Oh, I almost forgot:

The chickens “sort of ran a very short distance and they sort of flopped over,” said defense attorney Garland Moore
