From Johann W. von Goethe:
“None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.”
And then one straight from Jesus himself:
“He who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.”
-Christ, Luke 22:36
Hot damn! That’s a good one.

Just got clued into this report off Boing Boing, about Ray Bradbury being a huge douchebag over Michael Moore’s adaptation of the title of his book Fahrenheit 451. Incidentally, this is a book which cries out against government censorship of media and independent thought.
First off, as mentioned by the author of the Boing Boing […]

I just wanted to save this snippet of an email from my friend Aron, about trying to convince people that voting is bullshit. Hopefully he won’t mind my quoting:
The voting shit is always guaranteed to start a shit storm…I love
it. It’s really hard to break peoples barriers when it comes to that.
They just can’t accept […]

Stained glass is a very elemental, almost alchemical process. You have these pieces of glass, which are made out of sand (earth). Your paint is also a powder, which you mix with water, and apply. Then you put the whole thing into a kiln, where you apply intense heat (fire) to transform it. Then you […]

I was just thinking of something while brushing my teeth, in preparation for shortly going to sleep:
I never fall asleep without intending to.
Is that weird? I hear other people talk about things like falling asleep studying, or at a movie, or reading a book or something. I’ve never done that. The only time I can […]

Man! Our plans for 4th of July weekend in Toronto are just fucking SKYROCKETING!
It’s gone from a simple random trip up with my brother and I, to an all-out takeover of the city. Now, from Pittsburgh, we also have coming up two of my brother’s friends, and possibly one of their friends. Of Brooklyn fame, […]

Here’s my latest broadside in the on-going “Battle of the Sexes”:
* ONE *
Now, I am a staunch advocate of drunkenness. I think it’s a wonderful thing when done correctly. Even sometimes when done incorrectly.
Something I’ve noticed though… and I’ve only ever experienced or heard of girls doing this. According to my knowledge, no guy […]

Has anybody else accidentally started watcing NBC’s latest foray, Who Wants to Marry My Dad? For some reason, my brother and I have caught two episodes now. And while I’m not thrilled about that fact, I would like to complain that they kicked out the best and absolutely the hottest woman today, the 31 year […]

Found this site, Lake Monster Culture, which I want to come back to and explore more fully. It’s some grad student or something who got a fellowship to go around and study the impact of mythical lake monsters on the cultures around where these monsters are purported to dwell. Seems kinda cool. We’ll see. (Here’s […]

This article from the BBC says a new study finds that Watching TV may speed up puberty. They’re saying that TV exposure (radiation, light, etc), may distort levels of melatonin (a hormone) in the body. Melatonin is supposedly one factor thought to slow the onset of puberty.
Actually, you know what I just realized? Their […]

Does anybody else kind of wonder if Bush, Inc. partially pulled this switcheroo on the Iraq “sovereignty” hand-over in order to steal the lime-light away from the wild unexpected success of Fahrenheit 9/11?
Cause that’s immediately the first thing I thought.
Although, that idea to pre-empt probable attacks on that day also makes a good […]

An article on the BBC, Creative side unlocked by stroke, about this guy who had a stroke, and now has become like all crazy artistic and stuff. Sort of interesting in and of itself. But more than just that, he has some pretty interesting quotes:
“I didn’t know much about who I was and what I […]

While looking for something else, I just came across this site, Exposing the Fraud of ADD and ADHD. Seems like it might be worthwhile to come back to:
“They made a list of the most common symptoms of emotional discomfiture of children; those which bother teachers and parents most, and in a stroke that could […]
