Ivory

Last night, before falling asleep, I had the following hypnagogic vision:

I was in some desert area, and there was a temple there. It could have been like ancient Egypt, but it seemed less grandiose than that. It reminds me of a pueblo that I saw in an X-Files episode. Anyway, then I’m inside this temple. There’s no roof on the temple, and really no adornments of any kind. But there is a pedestal, and on the pedestal is this block of ivory. It’s probably about like 8 or 10 inches tall, by maybe 3 or 4 inches wide, and deep. I reach toward this block of ivory, because I’m to perform some sort of ritual with it. I see my hands, and they are “mine” but they are clearly not the hands I have right now. They are bigger, rougher, and much older. Maybe the hands of a man in his 40’s or so. I pick this block of ivory off the pedestal, and I have this white linen cord which I wrap around it once and then again, and tie it a certain way. As soon as it’s tied, I untie and unwrap it again, and set it down on the pedestal. But the pedestal has become a table. And I am sitting at this table with a few other people. The people and I all seem to be wearing flowing robes made of course fabric. As soon as the ivory block is put on the table, it sort blossoms open, and becomes this feast for everyone seated there. It becomes some sort of plant, like a cabbage, but bigger and with way more leaves. And it is dark red in the center, and then dark green going outward from there. Actually, it looks a LOT like some of these red cabbage pictures. Except, the plant is either made of fire, or lava, or something like that. Or else, that is just a symbol for how, by eating it, we were to become empowered somehow. And we ate it, and we became happier and stronger through this sacrament we shared. It definitely had some kind of hints of a Last Supper feel to it.

You know, come to think of it, I wonder if this vision is related to that one I had yesterday, where I heard those two old-ass names, Eusebius & Doumonisus… I wonder if I’ll get another one before hitting the hay tonight? We’ll see…
